             abstract = "The Brazilian agrarian question is closely linked to land 
                         formation introduced by Portugal in the Colonial period. The 
                         concessions of sesmarias explain, very much, the current Brazilian 
                         land structure. Thus, this paper presents a methodology to 
                         reconstruct the land structure of the municipality Ponta de 
                         Pedras, located in Marajo Island, to show the relationship between 
                         the emergence of land grants, the foundation of the city of Ponta 
                         de Pedras and type of existing properties. In this research, 
                         geoprocessing was used as an instrument for the construction of 
                         georeferenced maps, of association between the cartographic base 
                         and database of the register of sesmarias and of rural properties, 
                         expanding methodological possibilities and analysis of the earlier 
                         time.",
